Consummate beauty built of ugliness,
O broken-nose philosopher, is thine.
Diamonds are deepest in the blue-mud mine;
So is the secret of thy strong success
Daemonic-glittering through the wear and stress
Of tortured feature; virtue's soul doth shine,
Genius and wisdom in the force divine
That fills thy face; magnificence! no less.
Ay! thou shalt drink the hemlock; thou shalt suffer
And die for self respect, for love of others!
To-day are men indissolubly brothers?
Is my life smoother than the Greek's or rougher?
The Greek at least shall stead me in my craft,
Crucify Crowley! Nay, my friends! the draught.

Perfecta belleza labrada de deformidad,
oh filósofo de la nariz rota, la tuya.
Así como los diamantes, más profundos en el limo azul,
así es el secreto de tu sólida fortuna
resplandor daimónico más allá de moda e importancia
de rasgo atormentado; el espíritu de la virtud relumbra,
el genio y la sabiduría de la divina fuerza
que insufla tu rostro; ¡esplendor!, nada menos.
¡Ay! Beberás la cicuta, sufrirás
y morirás por respeto a ti mismo, ¡por amor a los demás!
¿Son hoy los hombres hermanos inseparables?
¿Es mi vida más plácida que la de los griegos?
Los griegos, al menos, me ayudarán en mi arte.
¡Crucificad a Crowley! ¡No, mis amigos!, la pócima.
